acclaimed for its wonderful flavours worldwide, and in the tradition
of the classic Hungarian restaurant, our menu has an enormous range
of Hungarian, European and modern fare. Of course youll get an
amazing Goulash, but you can also look forward to dishes like Stuffed
Capsicum, Eye Fillet Budapest and our famous schnitzels.
Our bar features a wonderful range of pálinkas; pure fruit brandies
imported from countries including Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro and France.
We stock a wide variety of European beers, local and Hungarian wines,
and spirits. We also offer BYO wine. So whether youre up for a
quiet drink, or a big night out, youll be sure to enjoy yourself.
Our head chef, Viktor Sallay, is a native of Budapest, Hungary. He has
over twenty years cooking experience in a variety of cuisines including
Hungarian, Russian, Italian and Modern Australian. He was head chef
at the Brighton Savoy Hotel. He then ran Melbournes most famous
Hungarian kitchen at the Newmarket Hotel in St. Kilda which was frequently
reviewed and recommended in newspapers and on the radio. Now, together
with his partner, David Buchler, he aims to bring to Melbourne an authentic
Hungarian menu in a warm, casual and friendly environment.

BOHEMIAN NIGHTS
PLAYING THE FIRST TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH
Violinist Ernie Gruner and accordionist/singer Phil Carroll play Gypsy, Klezmer, Middle-Eastern, French, Italian, Russian, jazz and tango music which range from soulful to wild.
Ernie specializes in Jewish music and Phil specializes in Middle-Eastern music. They have worked together with theatre and dance events for Russian, Armenian, Jewish, Turkish, French and Italian and other productions and communities, as well as parties and weddings.
BOHEMIAN NIGHTS are as experienced at concerts as at the European artform of serenading at tables and taking requests as well as creating atmosphere in a street festival.
The duo was originally named Gypsy Nights after a famous duo that entertained in the restaurants and cafes of Budapest in the 1930s. Find out more at www.erniegruner.com |
